More than 100+ Hindu refugee families want to move out of Delhi and rebuild their lives in Punjab.

These are families who came from Pakistan hoping to find safety, dignity and a better future in India.

But for many of them, life in Delhi has become extremely difficult.

Poor and largely dependent on daily wages, labour, roadside carts and small businesses, these families have struggled for years with insecure housing, repeated livelihood disruptions, floods in some settlements, medical emergencies, documentation problems and continuing uncertainty.

Some families have already returned to Pakistan. Others are considering going back because they see no sustainable future for themselves in Delhi.

For a family that once left Pakistan hoping for a better life in India, returning there out of helplessness is heartbreaking.

HSF wants to give them another choice.

A NEW BEGINNING IN NAKODAR, PUNJAB

During the last 6–12 months, Hindu Samman Foundation teams have visited Nakodar, Punjab multiple times to explore whether these families could build sustainable lives there.
And what we found gives us hope.

Members and representatives of the Bawri community in Nakodar have approached HSF and expressed their willingness to welcome and support these families.

Our teams have held repeated discussions with local community leaders, including the leadership of the Bawri community, and studied the possibilities for rehabilitation in the area.
After these visits and discussions, HSF believes Nakodar can provide an opportunity for these families to start again.

Unlike simply moving families from one unfamiliar place to another, here there is already a local community willing to help them settle, adjust and rebuild.

SAMMAN AWAS – NAKODAR, PUNJAB

Approximately 100+ families currently want to relocate from Delhi to Punjab, and we believe that, subject to land availability, infrastructure, legal requirements and resources, the area could potentially support 100–200 families over time.

But there is one major requirement before this can happen

HSF is therefore launching the Samman Awas – Nakodar Land Purchase Campaign.
Our objective is to acquire suitable, legally secure land in or around Nakodar where permanent housing can eventually be developed for eligible refugee families.

FUNDRAISING GOAL – ₹2.5 CRORE

Land Requirement
Approximately 5–10 Kanals
Estimated Land Cost
₹30–50 Lakh per Kanal
Fundraising Target
₹2,50,00,000

The final land size, location and purchase price will depend upon availability and completion of appropriate legal, title, land-use and financial due diligence.

This fundraising campaign is primarily for land acquisition. Housing construction and infrastructure will be developed in subsequent phases depending upon the land acquired, resources and applicable approvals.

WHY YOUR SUPPORT MATTERS

This is not simply a land purchase.
This land could become the difference between families returning to Pakistan in despair and families getting another opportunity to build their future in India.

They are not asking HSF to support them forever.
They want an opportunity to work.
They want to educate their children.
They want permanent homes.
They want stability.
They want to stand on their own feet.

And most importantly, in Nakodar, there is already a community willing to stand beside them while they rebuild.

OUR APPEAL TO HINDU SOCIETY

We appeal to Hindu society, philanthropists, businesses, charitable trusts and compassionate individuals across India and around the world:

PLEASE HELP US PURCHASE THIS LAND.

Whether you contribute ₹500, ₹1,100, ₹5,100, ₹11,000, ₹51,000, ₹1 lakh or more, every contribution can bring these families closer to a permanent solution.

Major donors and institutions interested in sponsoring land or supporting the subsequent housing project are also invited to connect directly with HSF.

BEFORE THEY RETURN TO PAKISTAN, LET US GIVE THEM ANOTHER CHOICE.

They left Pakistan with hope.
They have struggled to establish themselves in Delhi.
Now more than 100 families are asking for an opportunity to start again in Punjab.
Nakodar is offering hope.
The local community is willing to support them.
HSF is ready to work for their rehabilitation.
Now we need society to come forward and help us secure the land.
